DIY: Bunny Napkins

Easter is just right around the corner! Are you having guests over for a dinner party? Or just like to decorate? Here are step by step instructions on how to turn your dinner napkins into Easter bunnies! I made these last year for a "Spring Table-scape Auction" I did for a fundraiser for Liv's old school. We each decorated a table and then they were auctioned off, it was fun! Here are a few pictures: (I apologize they aren't the best quality...I just found them on my phone.)

Ok, these are very easy to fold, and don't take a lot of time.
You will need:
  • Dinner Napkins (However many you want to fold)
  • Buttons
  • Needle
  • Thread
  • Straight Pins/Safety Pins (optional)
STEP 1 - Iron and starch your napkins.

STEP 2.

STEP 3.
STEP 4.

STEP 5.

STEP 6.
STEP 7.

STEP 8.

STEP 9.
STEP 10.

STEP 11. (Here you may want to pin the napkin...sometimes they won't stay together.)

Stand it up and you can be finished....or (see below).

You can sew on a button nose and leave the threads for whiskers!
Finished Bunnies.
See? I told you they are easy! Stay tuned, early next week I'll post a DIY on felt Peeps. You can use them on chair sashes (like in the Table-Scape picture) or you can make them into a bunting. Again, they are SEW EASY!

Etsy Shop

First, let me apologize for not posting in almost a week! The past 3 days I have been in bed sick, BOO! Turns out my allergies from the weekend led to Strep Throat...again (twice in 3 months is too much)! But, I have used my time in bed wisely and set up many business necessities! I now can take payments through PayPal and I have an ETSY shop! It's the little things in life...

Want to go check out my etsy shop? Look over --------> (at the top of the page) I created a preview and a link to it from my blog! So...check it out, let me know what you think!

I have a couple of Easter Decoration DIY projects I plan to post later this week, or early next week, so stay tuned!

Flower Bed (To Be Continued)

Matt and I are not much of yard work people...Matt because his schedule doesn't easily allow it and my excuse - I'm allergic to all kinds of grasses and weeds. I used to love mowing yards for other people, and then one day BOOM! Not so much anymore! So, at our 'Lil Place there is a patch of grass/weeds between the sidewalk to our side door and the side of the house that is just kinda...blah:

Blah spot! =)
It's just small enough it aggravates you to have to mow it, but too big to just leave it. So, I had the GENIUS idea to create a flower bed here! I can try my green thumb, plus it would look a lot better than what it does now. When I get an idea I want instant gratification...I want to do it right then and see the results immediately. This idea was on Saturday, I ran it by my Matt and he said I could do it! (He rarely tells me no...he's the best!) So I want to instantly start pulling weeds and raking, but the voice of reason said to wait until he got off on Monday and we would do it together (1...2...3...AWW!) So, I waited and when he got home from a hard day of work, I put him to work again. And then it looked like this:

First, a better BEFORE picture.

AFTER...it already looks better!
So, I had started my research that involved a lot of GOOGLE-ing! I had some ideas and was given my budget and I was going to town to get flowers the next day! So when I woke up I heard rain. I thought I would check on my little dirt patch, because before it would collect water there and I thought clearing it out would help the drainage. I was wrong...

Our mud puddle.

The deep end of our mud puddle.
Nothing I read on GOOGLE said anything about plants liking to swim! So, back to the drawing board. A discussion between Daddy-O and the Hubster and we are getting gutters! The conclusion is that it is just run off from the roof. So, once we get the gutters up, this project will continue! In the meantime...patience is an excellent virtue to practice! =)

Cakes

For many years now, at least 8, I have randomly made cakes for certain people and/or occasions. I am in NO way a professional...it's just something I really enjoy doing. I haven't had any training, or classes, I just picked a decorating tip one day and haven't looked back. I really enjoy experimenting and having full creativity over something...those always turn out to be my favorite cakes!

This past weekend, I made a golf cake for GrandBob (Matt's grandfather) and thought I would share it with you, and then I though I would share a few different ones from the past.

Carrot Cake Golf Ball - Italian Cream base

These "lingerie" cakes started from one of my roomates in college wanting the same cake at her Bachelorette Party that Jessica Simpson had. So, I googled it and thought, "I can make that" and so came the lingerie cake. I don't have a picture of the first one I made, but here is a couple since then:

Katie and I with her lingerie cake (many years ago).
Lingerie cake for my sister's shower.

Here are a few random cakes:

I made this when I lived in Austin...just because.
Happy Turkey Day Cupcakes!
Happy 18th Birthday to my Sis-in-Law.
Cupcake Tower for my lil C-ster.

Front of Cupcake Tower.
Mario Birthday cake I did for a little boy.
The Davidson's cub themed shower cake.
Cake made to look like a Cherry Pie for a "Sweetie Pie" baby shower.
Cake for ACPA's Storm - I think it was for winning a tournament.
Close up of basketball - this was my first Fondant cake.
Grooms Cake for Uncle Lee.

Lemon Petite Fore's for Lee & Linda's Wedding.

Italian Cream Cake for Linda's Wedding Cake.
This couple wanted cupcakes for their wedding cake. They turned out cute!

So, next time you bake a cake, go a little extra step and get creative...you never know what you might end up with! Happy Baking!

Family Fishing Fun

Last Friday evening we didn't have any plans and really had a hankerin' to go fishing! My mom has been telling us how good the fishing has been down at Lake Mary, so we called to make sure they were home and headed down. We got the boat ready and my Dad, Mom, Matt and I headed out. I decided I would take a picture of everyone with what they catch so I could blog about it...and my dad's exact words, "Well, I don't wanna be a blog hog!" Haha! You'll see who ended up with the most!
